Thank you so much for this! My girlfriend and I have been seeking information to make us more knowledgeable and strong in what seems to be an eternal debate over the sacredness of those of other sexualities.

I have one question for now. Could you please furter explain what you meant by the sentence "But as we are socialized, “shades of the prison-house” begin to close around us"? I have not heard the reference to "shades of the prison-house" before, but would love to know more of how you think on this. Again, thank you so much.

"Shades of the prison house" is William Wordsworth's phrase to describe the way our options get shut down by our upbringing. Little kids can love anybody who loves them, for instance, but after being socialized, they usually wind up being able to love only heterosexually, or only homosexually, or in other limited ways.
